netransplant if what you say is correct and I would be in favor of a community that would serve all ages.

Why is the 6 votes on the 8 vote council in favor of seeking new residents in mass who are 62 and older who are retired, on fixed incomes, basically part time or no time workers? It seems to not be along the same lines as you speak. Now I see it more along the lines that they are seeking this 6-12% group because they require more service from local government. Thus a continuation of building city provided service paid with higher tax dollars. Rather than a city that targets those working in the private sector needing less service and paying taxes with products and services they provide throughout a community.

Packer this tax started at 10% and was only dropped to &% to try to comfort fools like you to be comfortable with it.

As you have shown in your posts you really do not ask questions and if you accidentally do you got your answer. It already went from one percentage to another down for now and it can be revisited again to go up. The millage rate after the fire assessment is taken out and charged as a separate fee can go up along with the millage rate to 10. Catch up or try to cath on Packer!

netransplant, there is a huge retirement community in Cape Coral, and they are very susceptible to tax increases. Don't blind yourself.

Defrayed costs from real estate tax in the form of assessments that were captured in that tax enables the city to not commit to staying within a budget. That makes it okay? Why build or even buy here when you can drive a short distance and receive more for less. The city manager stated he needs $300 million in capital improvement? That is a Christmas wish list that is not coming in one year. Not coming in 3 years! However if you leave this man and this present Slick 6 council to it your real estate tax and the existing non real estate taxes will continue to increase in percentages, additional items and more and more of your expendable income.

Packer they stated going in that they were going to make it 10%. They looked at the potential and dropped it to &%. They maybe could have dropped it to 5,2, or zero. Packer are you a dunce or just acting like one?

We witnessed increase in dual water sold to the voters a free use as often as you choose. From $0 to $5 to $10 to $9.50 after people kept complaining about the whole water/sewer rates. That was one instance and it happened before the first sprinkler was activated. Tax on CRA for a grand downtown people are not happy with where and how this money was spent. Look what is there after 20 years of taxing and attempting to change. The same thing that was there before a CRA and the extra tax. I could go on and on but why waste my time on a FOOL like you. You were in favor of the $13 million pulled out of water/sewer and storm water for land that will have very little to do with those line items. Your also intent on justifying a $20 million shortfall.

Logic tells one if the 2010 census visited over 80,000 homes/condos there were that many electric accounts not including 13,000 businesses. I realize some work out of residential homes. So between this tax, and fire assessment it will b

Kirsten, I couldn't find it as I was in a hurry. So I was wrong. It's no big deal except that I heard it said the mil rate at the meeting, not the PST. I could be wrong.

third song..third verse..The answer will be finishing the job that was started in 2011.it's no shock to learn you were part of the brink of bankruptcy that was caused by king and his freaking five.Balancing the budget with capital fund is big no-no. the citizens from the north area will prove once and for all that they want their roads fixed, they want their water and sewer and they want to be the rising star of the Cape. Step aside,lightswitch, stop living in the City Of Yesterday and move on!

The tax that was quoted as being limited by state statute is the mil rate. There is nothing in the state constitution or laws that limits how much can be charged tax wise on a PST. The 2012 Florida Statutes

Lightswitch...It has been quoted many, many times...the tax cannot go above 10%. Rescind, throw out, change, destroy, anything. You don't approve. We get it. I am sure you are in the forefront on the petition to get on the Nov. ballot. Good Luck.

Joe, this is not only legitimate but also intelligent management. The laws of the state cap this assessment at 10%, FYI. The retirement community of Cape Coral is gone, and what remains is a vibrant community that has to be properly managed. You need to come to grips with that or move to the Villages.

The solution will be vote McGrail out of office along with those that voted for this and then rescind what they ratified. It will not happen overnight but persistence will overcome.
