Just in passing it says tax receipts were $2.5 million less than last year? Yes I guess when the city of Cape Coral, Florida bought $13.4 million of land pulling it off the tax rolls there is the $2.5 million in lost tax. Since the budget Szerlag turned in was essentially Gary King's budget from the year before (it was done for Szerlag) King's budget was right on the mark. If King was not fired for no cause we would have been under budget since no advertised search would have had to be done. We get to thank McGrail, McClain, Donnell and the newbies Erbrick, Nesta, Cariosia! So here we are today, short on funds once again and just charging windmills like Don Quixote taxing this, overspending on that. PROFESSIONAL? No!

So we agree that Mrs. Bateman does good work. As Gary King did good work, was on time with thorough preparation of reports, and information requested of him.

So Lolita then admits the former players did not implement sound accounting practices and left so many situations they should have been able to account for unaccounted for as basic accounting systems would have provided for those things. Isn't that what your saying? Because that is what mrs. Bateman said about the systems she was encountering when she arrived. Documented at the council meetings on Cape TV. I wonder how long it will be before the documentation is pulled to stop ALL the transparency instead of just some as we are beginning to see?

I am sure Financial Director Bateman can credit any and all successes she has had in her lifetime to her dedication to her profession. Her glowing background doesn't seem to rely on associations with anyone, just basic practices and education and the courage to implement those practices. Give credit to where credit is due...Victoria Bateman, professional.

Mrs. Bateman came in as the replacement Financial Services Director after former City Manager Gary King was hired. He brought her on board. How interesting. Good job Mrs. Bateman, thank you! Gary King good job thank you for your honest excellent effort. Thank you for implementing sound accounting practices in the city! I am sure if you were not fired for no cause the city would be further out of the woods than it is today!
