Homebuilder's also resisted smoke detectors, Arc-Fault interrupters, Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI)and said aluminum wiring was the way to go in the 1970's after being told that it wasn't safe. I don't want more government intervention either. But have you seen what they are making homes out of these days? OSB, TJI's, vinyl siding, and builders are effective at every code council meeting in getting further fire safe reductions because the code has called for fire sprinklers (since 2009) because of these materials that burn almost like matches. SO DON'T PUT IN SPRINKLERS, BUT PUT BACK ALL OF THE THINGS THAT MADE OUR HOMES SAFER!! One or the other but the homebuilders are having their cake and eating it too.

The home I have has them hardwired in and I added some. I took the responsibility to be proactive. Based on the wiring options in the 70's did know from what I learned I would not have used aluminum even if it were an option. Self initiated choice. GFI's were not a choice but put in so I did not have to choose but would have because I know water and electricity are not a good mix. Funny at the meeting no one pitched more fire extinguishers, no one pitched no open flames like candles, no one pitches not leaving the kitchen ever when pans are cooking on the stove top. But I understand it many able bodied have become individuals who will call for a government to also be their personal wiper after using the toilet! Cape Coral needs to learn there is common affordable common ground between SOME and NONE. Tonight we listen to NBC news touting councilman Kevin Mc Grails take on eliminating THE ENTIRE(?) Parks & Recreation Dept. Try to justify the EXTRACTION of the $150 per home to kee

First of all I would like to point out ahe was instrumental in increasing there budget this year. Based on the fact they did a good job. AND THEY DID. However by doing what he did he helped increase the line item in dollars this year. Look Kevin is I am guessing a good guy but a problem solver? NO The city needs problem solvers who can plan, and see what is affordable and not. The city is more than just fill the line items with more money and continue to add staff. This is how other communities operate. When you see the growth then you add. When you are fighting for survival you do not add. We saw at the meeting Xmas Past Joe Mazurkewitz, Xmas Present all the city players, and when we see Xmas Future Mc Grail should not be in that picture politically. The new growth you want will be driving to Cape Coral getting the low down on the taxes cost of service, and cost of non tax charges (as they try to control the millage to run this city. Then your NEW growth will get in their car and b

BUILD or BUY across the river in unincorporated Lee County, or one of the other cities that do not have to deal with a mortgage, equity loan to pay for utilities, added tax on electricity, 16,000 plus of undeveloped lots that do not pay their share to provide roads, basic water & sewer, storm water, and what else tomorrow or the next so called balanced budget. Put Kevin McGrail back to work at his full time job at a healthcare facility where he is not responsible for solving the financial problems or staffing the facility.

Lightswitch,

Just move, anywhere that you like. No one has to live here. It's a choice, not mandated. Find Utopia and enjoy the rest of your life, be happy.
