Things that annoy

March 30, 2013

To the editor: I went to the Cape Coral City Council meeting Monday night to see if Councilmember Chris Chulakes-Leetz would stand up, man up, and apologize to his fellow council members he had......

Hey FC, if you don't have the time to attend all meetings you shouldn't run for office. If you fall asleep at council meetings you are a disgrace. Have you seen Donnells house? Apparently he doesnt have time for landscaping either??

When Donnell isn't late he's falling asleep, what a joke! And if you think Zerlag is a good cm Ive got news for you, ANYONE. An delegate their responsibilities to their subordinates and consulting firms, give me a break already. Dare ya to look at his REAL track record and say that!!! And while you are bashing Leetz don't forget to bash McClain who tries to tell the rest of us how to live yet allows his own home to fall into foreclosure. A fine bunch we have on council, fine fine bunch

Steve, Did you actually read what you wrote to 1Sandy? Reminds me of your stumbling during your losing campaign...you could not even beat the clown in office.

Raydunavant: I see that you have nothing and no solutions; maybe you should go back to where you came from and crawl back under that rock. Just an FYI why don’t you let the people decide about single member district, or are you all knowing and powerful

If and when these taxes on electricity and other utilities are put through. I guess to save the businesses we have in Cape Coral, Fl. the residential taxpayers again will subsidize those businesses as we do with the sewer costs and the trash pickup? How's that RV Resort going to figure in on the existing subsidizing? How about the new intended tax for fire district, electric, sewer, etc. Spell it out for the home owners. That area district 6 has single homes on entire streets. Are they going to subsidize the cost of sewer, trash pick up, and tax on electric and fire? The answer is NO just like the financial burden the clowns have put on the rest of us for the poor planning, poor bonding, that has been going on for decades.

Steve,

I never suggested that I have anything on you. I was simply pointing out that you write like a 5th grader, and I wonder who does your proofreading for your signs and flyers...certainly not you.

As to your message to Linda regarding single member districts, I maintain that all of the council members spend my money, and I was a say in who the all are. Single member districts are a throwback to the corrupt ward systems in northern cities such as Chicago, New York, and even the little jerkwater where a certain former mayor was was mayor.

If there were significant cultural, economic and ethnic differences, there may be limited justification for single members, but in a homogeneous city like the Cape it makes no sense.

Linda53: I will tell you this one more time, I was paid to print the document and get it mailed, I wish I could take credit for it, I can’t. I also am confused by your dislike of single member district, all it does is gave the power back to the people, it will make it hard for any group to get a candidate elected the candidate will have to win the hearts of the people in the district.

Loveless: you only think you are smarter than everyone else. City taxes are only a part of what we pay. We pay far less that other cities for utility taxes on electric, gas, phone, etc. and on many other 'hidden' fees. You need to compare total cost to live here with total cost to live elsewhere --- but you and your RAGs cant do that because then voters would see through your lies. Knowing how to fix the issue of the citys future funding stability ($15 a month) the mayor again dragged out his contract with the cape of no new taxes and will vote anything and everything down. He is a one trick pony. He will see this city crash and burn before he pays more taxes--but he had $10K to give to a veterans group to buy votes! shameful.

John M: Donel has a family to support. I don't think he should have canceled his college class. If your upset about him asking questions, remember that you were an invited guest at the meeting. If you want to address missing councilmen, After Leetz' failed atempt to ram through a sneak vote on his ordinance --- HE GOT UP AND WALKED OUT! He was absent for the appointments to 2 City Boards. At the planning meeting he was outside and MIA 3 times in 1 and 1/2 hours ---- one time on his cell phone for over 30 minutes --- and never returned after the lunch break. I dont think the 2 issues are the same.

what's really sickening is your attitude towards the citizens of our great city. what's really sickening is the scare tactics you used in a certain brochure you sent out to those living in the SW Area.but what's really sickening are those tickets you and the golden goose club are selling, hoping to get enough funds to have the Single District referendum on the ballot.also, the taxes in the cape are a lot less than where you lived up north.Everyone knows this..so stop the B.S.

Steve Lovejoy. Had you been at the meeting you would see where you error. It isn't taxes alone that dictates what we pay to live here. The active power point chart they had clearly showed that.

Mr. Perry, I absolutely get the part time council. If you are going to be 2 hours late, then don't come in and say how important the issue is and ask questions that were asked and answered in the previous two hours. I wasn't the only one annoyed,so I guess it was a lot of people's personal judgement. Read my statememt.

As for Leetz. Drinking adult beverages is also a legal personal habit on a bus when you aren't driving or underage. In my case I saw the legal personal habit didn't guess about it. So, what goes around comes around.

I think Rich Leon will make a good replacement for Leetz.

I too don't think Donnell's tardiness is such a big deal. For Leetz I know he has no respect for anyone that disagrees with him, and that is a sign of his inability to work as an adult in discussions with either city staff or other council people. He showed his lack of knowledge with the introduction of ordinances, even after 3and a half years on the dais. If I am wrong then it would show his planned manipulation of the council by trying to shame them into going along with his attempted sham. As far as the speed politics he can't think fast enough to address citizens questions without his Deile/Sullivan play book. Leetz is a fraud as an elected official, just as he was at the ambulance.
