Golf Still Booming in SW Florida
January 12, 2009 - Steve Anderson
Happy new year to all the golfers out there. I hope Santa brought some of you some new clubs to try out on your local links.
With the downturn in the economy over the last year many area courses were wondering if this years play would suffer and the amount of rounds would be down with many folks deciding that they just couldn't afford to play as much as in years past. Well, from what I've seen golf in our area seems to be immune to the poor economic forecast and area courses seem to be busier than ever. I read an article recently featuring several area courses and all of them are enjoying a full golf course and the 'snowbirds' are back in full swing. I know my lesson book at River Hall is booked full and that our course has been sold out or near capacity since December. I think most courses are actually charging a bit less than in years past and they're being smart in keeping their prices lower. MOst I've seen are at least $10.00 cheaper than the same time last year and many are offering lunches, a free drink or free bucket of range balls as well. So for many of you just returning to Southwest Florida you'll find exceptional deals and courses in great shape. Good news all around.
