Is The Nightmare Over?

After years of plummeting real estate valuations and tax revenues, it appears the long nightmare is just about over for Lee County, especially in Cape Coral. Cape Coral's estimated tax roll value increased 3.53 percent in 2011, the biggest increase among all 91 taxing authorities in Lee County, according to preliminary figures furnished by the appraiser's office a few weeks ago. As a Real Property attorney I am tempted to believe that the nightmare of Cape Coral real estate is over. Or is it?

We would all like to believe that, but if you check with the property appraisers office, the facts may tell a different story. More sales does not equate to higher values, any more than sitting in your garage makes you a car...
