Pool Safety? or Too Much Government?
February 13, 2012 - Sylvia Heldreth
Pool companies love the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act that requires pools to install new equipment that prevents people, especially children, from drowning because of suction from drains.
Some community association board members say that the repair is fairly inexpensive and lives can be saved. They are complying with the law.
Others think the government should stay out of the business of protecting us and don't believe that the death of one child, sad as it was, necessitates spending millions of dollars to retrofit thousands of pools.
What do you think?
