First Cool Spell means Holidays

November 8, 2010 - Steve Anderson
It sure was a welcome change to get that first big blast of cold air this past weekend, Holy Cow! After what they're saying was the second hottest summer ever in Southwest Florida some cool weather sure felt good. It makes my time giving lessons a whole lot more comfortable when it's 75 degrees rather than 100+ during the summer months.

With the cool weather upon us it reminds us that the holidays are not far around the corner either My two kids are already making their Christmas lists and knowing what to buy the golfer in your family could be challenging. For years I had an Aunt (the kind I saw once every 10 years or so) who would always send me a dozen orange golf balls for Christmas. A nice thought for sure but, you don't send a golf pro any golf stuff Non-golfers don't know what to buy, what kind of balls or clubs to buy, and most golfers already have what they 'just can't live without'.

I think a great gift for the golfer in your family are gift certificates for rounds of golf or for golf lessons. Every course in town offers certificates to buy a round or two of golf at your favorite course and it's a guarantee that it'll be used and appreciated by your special someone. Some courses offer monthly memberships or for a big splurge even an annual membership somewhere. Every day they play they'll be reminded of your thoughful gift.

Golf lessons are also a terrific gift and the gift of a better golf game for the coming year will surely put a smile on their face. Golf professionals all offer gift certificates for single lessons or multiple series of lessons. I've sold hundreds of gift certificates over the years as Christmas presents and can't tell you how grateful the recipient is when the arrrive for their first lesson and start hitting the ball better than ever. Simply call your favorite course or pro and they can usually send it right out to you in the mail, and that can save you a trip to the mall too which is always a good thing. Once they receive their certificate they can call to set up their first appointment and be on the road to a better golf game.
